Maruti Suzuki is all set to bring back the Alto K10 nameplate in the Indian market. The new generation 2022 Maruti Alto K10 is scheduled to launch in the country on August 18, 2022. It will be sold alongside the new-gen Maruti Alto, which will also go on sale on August 18. Ahead of the official launch, various details including the variants, features, dimensions and engine options of the new Alto have been leaked on the internet.

In addition, the clear exterior and interior images of the 2022 Maruti Alto K10 have also been leaked on the internet. The leaked information reveals that the new Alto will be offered in 4 trim levels – STD, LXI, VXI and VXI+ – and a total of 12 variants (8 manual and 4 automatic). The manual variants include STD, STD (O), LXI, LXI(O), VXI, VXI(O), VXI+ and VXI+ (O), while the automatic range includes VXI, VXI(O), VXI+ and VXI+ (O) . .

The new generation Alto has been designed and developed on the new HEARTECT modular platform that underpins the Maruti S-Presso, Celerio and the Swift hatchback. In terms of proportions, the new Alto K10 is 3,530mm long, 1,490mm wide and 1,520mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,380mm. It has a gross weight of 1,150 kg. Compared to the current model, the new Alto is around 85mm longer and 45mm taller and has a 20mm longer wheelbase.

The 2022 Maruti K10 looks significantly bigger than the outgoing model. The new model shares several design highlights with the new Celerio hatchback. It gets a larger hexagonal front grille and larger headlamps, and a newly styled bumper with thinner air dam. The leaked images show steel wheels with new hubcaps, relatively flat roof, blacked-out ORVMs, body-colored door handles, etc.

The rear also shares the styling cues of the Celerio hatchback. The top spec model has chrome highlights on the window line, chrome treatment on the lower bumper and chrome strip on the lower door handles. It comes with a roof-integrated spoiler and wrap-around tail lamps with chrome treatment. The new generation Alto K10 will be offered in 6 color options – Solid White, Silky Silver, Granite Grey, Earth Gold, Swift Blue and Sizzling Red.

Major changes are also visible inside the cabin. It comes with new upholstery, an all-new dashboard design and new instrument console. The top spec model comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The vehicle will also come with electrically adjustable ORVMs, front power windows, remote control key, manual air conditioning, steering mounted audio controls, etc. For safety and security, the hatchback gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seat belt reminder and speed warning.

New Alto engine and gearbox

The new-gen Alto hatchback will be powered by a new 998cc naturally-aspirated K10C petrol engine that produces 66 bhp of power at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 89 Nm at 3,500 rpm. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT (automatic manual transmission). The regular Alto may get the existing 796cc 3-cylinder F8D petrol engine that produces 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual transmission that sends the power to the front wheels will be standard.
