alternating currentA couple who recently became empty nesters approached Hendel Homes through Danielle Loven and Vivid Interior Design, who wanted a home rooted in classic English Tudor style with a contemporary touch that fit the grandeur and contemporary of the Hamptons California-style indoor and outdoor living.
Handel worked with the client to design and build their new 7,836-square-foot home in Prior Lake, which includes four bedrooms and seven bathrooms. Organized around a smart floor plan, the home is ideal for family retreats and larger gatherings, featuring curated formal and informal spaces that lead to Yardscapes’ lush landscaping and resort-style outdoor living spaces.

Hendel and Vivid worked with clients to design interior spaces rich in natural metals, wood, and organic materials; designer wall coverings, marble mosaics, and waterfall edge quartz countertops; and custom-designed and custom cabinets and displays in iron and brass lamps.
Adjacent to the kitchen, a set of custom walnut-paneled glass doors lead to a beverage bar, followed by a pantry or prep kitchen. The lower level of the home is designed for entertaining, featuring a built-in whisky bar and custom-designed abstract glass shelves.

The architectural team worked with Ron Brenner Architects to ensure the home’s spacing, overhangs and proportions were implemented precisely to ensure the palette was cohesive and balanced modern and traditional elements. As the homeowner is a car enthusiast and has a collection of vintage cars, Hendel designed and built a two-story, four-car garage attached to the home, in addition to a separate 10-car garage.

The result is a casual, sophisticated home that feels very relaxed in the Midwest. The home was also an interesting and rewarding project for Hendel, thanks in large part to the client’s enthusiasm, involvement and trust.
