YipitData Releases 3Q22 Home Goods Market Share Index: Pure Players

NEW YORK, October 25, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — YipitDatathe trusted source of market research and insights, has released its third edition Homeware Market Share Index: Pure PlayersA ranking of the top 30 homeware pure players the United States. The quarterly index, compiled by YipitData’s retail and e-commerce analysts, tracks trends and estimated sales using the company’s alternative data solutions. It measures year-over-year growth and quarterly market share changes based on combined sales across digital and brick-and-mortar.

“The online home goods industry in particular saw a massive surge during peak pandemic as consumers stayed home – and shopped,” explains Then Pellegrinelli, YipitData’s VP of Research. “However, our research shows that overall industry growth is slowing. Lower-income consumers continue to restrain spending, contributing to share loss for stores such as Bed Bath & Beyond and Bob’s Discount Furniture.”

General home retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Ashley Furniture and Overstock lost the bulk of a declining market in 3Q22, while more upscale players such as Arhaus, Pottery Barn and West Elm gained share.

YipitData’s Q3 Homeware Market Share Key Takeaways:

  • Wayfair continues to have the largest share of the home goods market with a slight increase (0.23 pp) in year-on-year market share.
  • Arhaus achieved incredible success in 3Q22, with market share nearly doubling year-on-year. It is now in 17th place – up 5 places from last quarter, the most of any brand.
  • Bed Bath & Beyond continues to suffer from declining market share. It had the largest year-on-year decline in market share (-2.02 pp) among the top 30 retailers in 3Q22. Bob’s Discount Furniture also fell in the rankings, falling 5 places to 23rd.
